Algerian-Chinese automotive industrial project

Overview

Algeria is developing a domestic vehicle brand, HANOU, through the Sokon Algeria industrial project in Batna province. This joint venture with a Chinese partner involves an industrial complex in Zana El Beida designed to produce buses and trucks.

The project represents an investment of 9.8 billion DA and is expected to create 1,800 direct jobs and 4,200 indirect jobs. Preparations include the recruitment of 450 workers trained in coordination with the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education. The facility features three assembly lines and specialized workshops for chassis welding and painting.

While the brand aims to establish a distinct Algerian commercial identity for the utility vehicle market, the first vehicle is expected to roll off the assembly line in January 2027. Local authorities are working to provide land for subcontracting to increase the local integration rate.
