Alicante Tambora nightclub licensing dispute
Entities: Alicante City Council · Antonio Peral · Mario Puche · Tambora nightclub · Tambora Open Air S.L.
Overview
In late July 2026 the Alicante City Council’s Urban Planning department ordered the closure of the outdoor Tambora nightclub for operating without a proper licence. On 26 July the council temporarily halted the sealing order after the club filed an appeal, allowing the venue to continue its weekend programme while warning that non‑compliance could lead to police intervention and possible criminal charges.
Four days later, on 30 July, the club’s chief executive, Mario Puche of Grupo Magma, accused the council of a two‑year delay and claimed that all required documentation had been submitted, arguing the venue could remain open under a provisional declaration. The council rebutted, saying the paperwork did not resolve identified urban‑planning, environmental and safety deficiencies, including an inadequate security plan, improper site use, and missing minor‑work licences for structures and parking. The dispute therefore moved from a temporary pause in enforcement to a public clash over the adequacy of the club’s licensing and compliance measures.
