All Saints' Day preparations in Croatia and Slovenia
Overview
As All Saints' Day approaches, various regions in Croatia and Slovenia are implementing logistical and commercial preparations to facilitate cemetery visits.
In Croatia, municipalities like Velika Gorica are organizing tenders for seasonal flower and candle sales locations. In Marčan, students from Arboretum Opeka Secondary School are producing handmade arrangements. In Rijeka, markets will operate on a limited basis on November 1, with only sales points offering seasonal items like flowers and candles remaining open; the Central Market’s seasonal areas will be accessible from 07:00 to 15:00.
Transport authorities are adjusting services to manage holiday traffic. In Maribor, Slovenia, Marprom—in cooperation with the Maribor Funeral Company and the Municipality of Maribor—will provide free shuttle services at the Dobrava and Pobrežje cemeteries. Marprom will also offer free city bus services on lines G3, G5, and P12 on October 31 and November 1, 2026, while cemetery hours will be extended to midnight.
In the Trbovlje region, traffic management measures will be implemented for the Gabrsko cemetery, including a temporary regime on October 31 and November 1 to allow for circular movement and parking. In Zagreb, ZET is implementing an extraordinary schedule through November 2, 2026, with restricted access to certain cemetery zones on November 1.
Other Croatian cities are also adjusting services. In Split, the company Promet is introducing an extra bus line connecting HNK to the Lovrinac cemetery from October 30 to November 1, with buses running every 30 minutes. In Osijek, public transport will be free on all lines on November 1, with extra services deployed for the Central and Donjogradsko cemeteries, including a peak-hour line every 20 minutes on October 31.
