Almond production decline in Adıyaman

Overview

Almond production in Adıyaman, Turkey, is experiencing a notable decline. Fatin Rüştü Turanlı, President of the Kahta Chamber of Agriculture, reported that the 2026 harvest yield is projected to fall to between 18,000 and 20,000 tons, compared to approximately 25,000 tons in 2025.

This decrease is attributed to economic pressures, which led to the uprooting of roughly 5,000 decares of orchards last year, and excessive rainfall during the flowering period. Turanlı warned that the loss of these orchards impacts national wealth and could increase reliance on imports. He has urged relevant institutions to announce purchase prices before harvest to provide producers with necessary price predictability.
