Altay Bayindir joins Celta Vigo on loan

Following the 5 August agreement, the season-long loan of Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Manchester United to Celta Vigo was completed on 7 August 2026. The 28-year-old will travel to Spain to join Celta’s pre-season preparations, including a training camp in Italy, where he is expected to feature in upcoming friendly matches against Sassuolo and Napoli.

In a social media message, Bayindir expressed gratitude to Manchester United supporters, noting that while he would miss Old Trafford, the move was not a permanent goodbye. The deal retains the original purchase option, reportedly valued at approximately €4 million ($4.7 million), allowing Celta to secure him permanently. This move provides Bayindir his first opportunity for regular football in Spain after making 17 appearances for United since joining from Fenerbahçe in 2023.

United’s goalkeeper reshuffle continued with Andre Onana also sent on loan to Trabzonspor for a second consecutive season, underscoring United’s intent to move the keeper on while keeping a contract extension option to 2027.
