Alzheimer Nederland social inclusion initiatives
Overview
In preparation for World Alzheimer Day on September 21, Alzheimer Nederland has launched the theme ‘Ik blijf meedoen’ (I keep participating) to advocate for the social inclusion of individuals living with dementia.
Initial efforts focused on the Midden-Holland region, where an information meeting was scheduled for September 8 in Bodegraven. This event, organized by Alzheimer Nederland, Bibliotheek De Groene Venen, and Stichting Welzijn Groene Hart, aimed to connect patients and caregivers with local support services and specialized resources.
As the observance approaches, activities have expanded across several municipalities, including Gouda, Bodegraven-Reeuwijk, Krimpenerwaard, Waddinxveen, and Zuidplas. These initiatives include information markets, cultural programs such as theater and singing, and physical activities like yoga. Additionally, in Dongen, the Dementievriendelijke Gemeenschap Dongen is hosting a creative workshop titled ‘SAMEN KUNST MAKEN’ (Making Art Together), where participants and caregivers collaborate on a communal artwork.
