Alzheimer's awareness initiatives in France
Overview
In September 2026, various regional organizations in France held events to observe World Alzheimer’s Day and support those affected by neurocognitive disorders.
Initial activities focused on awareness and fundraising through community solidarity events. In Mirande, organizers planned a solidarity day featuring a morning walk and a “Gratiferia” free market, alongside the signing of a “Ville aidante” (Helping City) charter. In Perpignan, the “Mémo Run 66” was organized as a “race against forgetting,” consisting of various running and walking distances to raise funds for local initiatives.
Subsequent efforts expanded to include direct support for caregivers and patients. In Arnage, the signing of a ‘Charte Ville Aidante Alzheimer’ marked a municipal commitment to inclusivity. Other initiatives included a ‘Café Mémoire Itinérant’ in Thuir to facilitate connection among family caregivers, as well as nutrition and cooking workshops designed to assist with the dietary management of loved ones.
