Amman urban environmental and infrastructure initiatives

Overview

The Greater Amman Municipality has undertaken several environmental and infrastructure initiatives in Amman. Initially, the municipality and the Ministry of Environment signed a cooperation agreement to expand urban green spaces. This project, supported by the Environmental Protection Fund, aims to plant trees and shrubs on 200 vacant land plots to improve air quality and mitigate climate change effects.

Following this, municipal leadership inspected various rainwater drainage infrastructure projects across several districts, including Tariq, Marj Al-Hamam, Na’ur, and Wadi Al-Seer. These efforts, which include the installation of box and pipe culverts, are part of a 10 million dinar plan to enhance the city’s drainage capacity and prevent flooding during the winter season.
