Amritsar Airport Easy Connect Initiative

On 28 July 2026 the Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar began operating a hub‑and‑spoke system. Under the new “Easy Connect” service, passengers complete immigration, customs and baggage drop at Amritsar before being routed through Delhi to 27 international destinations, including London, New York, Toronto, Dubai and Singapore. The program, announced by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, is aimed at cutting travel time and spurring economic growth in Punjab and neighbouring states.

Two days later, Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon applauded the initiative as a historic gift for the region’s large NRI community. He highlighted the convenience for seniors, women and children and expected boosts to tourism, trade and cultural exchange.

Air India now operates two daily Easy Connect flights (AI1113 and AI1115) that provide through‑check‑in to all 27 cities without re‑checking baggage in Delhi, reinforcing the airport’s role as a new international hub for North India.
