Ancient tea forest discovery in Quảng Ninh

Overview

In the Đường Hoa commune of Quảng Ninh province, a population of rare, centuries-old tea trees has been identified within the Quảng Nam Châu forest near Tài Chi village.

Following a forest expedition, researchers and local officials documented specimens growing in a wild, moss-covered environment at elevations starting around 300 meters. The largest tree recorded has a trunk circumference of approximately 120 cm and a height of nearly 10 meters.

Local authorities have numbered and GPS-located the trees to develop a distribution map for conservation purposes, aiming to preserve the genetic resources of the region's long-standing tea-growing area.
