Andalusia public employee pay cut recovery initiative

Overview

The Central Sindical Independiente y de Funcionarios (CSIF) has launched a Popular Legislative Initiative (ILP) in the Parliament of Andalusia to recover salary deductions made from public employees during the 2013-2014 economic crisis. The initiative seeks to restore extra pay that was withheld, an amount estimated by the CSIF to total approximately 750 million euros, averaging about 2,000 euros per worker.

The affected group includes roughly 280,000 workers across the justice, education, health, and university sectors, as well as retirees who were active during that period. While a 2018 agreement had previously addressed the restitution of these funds, the issue was reportedly excluded from more recent negotiations for the 2026-2030 pact.

The Parliament has admitted the initiative for processing. To advance the proposal toward becoming law, the CSIF must now collect over 40,000 signatures within a six-month period.
