Andalusian school service disputes

Overview

The PSOE party has moved to bring grievances regarding school services in Andalusia to the regional parliament. In Algeciras, families at the Mediterráneo-Luis Uncitide public school have organized protests, supported by CCOO, over the quality and quantity of school meals.

Regional deputy Rocío Arrabal has committed to seeking explanations from the Junta de Andalucía regarding the management of the dining service, which transitioned from a cook to a catering system. Concerns include reports of children returning home hungry and rising costs for school dining services within the province of Cádiz.

Expanding the scope of these educational concerns, the PSOE has initiated meetings with unions to address broader service deterioration. In Jaén, discussions with CCOO have highlighted significant disruptions to school transportation, which reportedly affect more than 1,600 students. These transport issues include the use of temporary contracts to manage student needs and broader concerns regarding budget cuts to complementary services.
