Andhra Pradesh education and digital skilling initiatives

Overview

The government of Andhra Pradesh has launched initiatives to enhance educational standards and digital literacy. As part of a professional development program in collaboration with the University of Turku, twenty-nine award-winning government school teachers are traveling to Finland for an eight-day program in Turku and Rauma. The training focuses on classroom methodologies, early childhood education, and the integration of digital tools. Following the program, these educators are expected to implement pilot projects and act as mentors within their home districts.

In tandem with these pedagogical efforts, the state is expanding its digital skilling capabilities through the FutureSkills PRIME initiative. Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the leading Indian state in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analytics (BDA) skilling under this central government program. Data from the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology indicates that over 153,783 candidates in the state were enrolled or trained in AI and BDA over the last three years, with 108,895 successfully completing certification.

Furthermore, the state has seen more than 434,000 candidates enrolled in the broader FutureSkills PRIME initiative, covering technologies such as cybersecurity, blockchain, and the Internet of Things. This digital skilling push aligns with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s ‘Swarna Andhra 2047’ vision, a long-term development plan aimed at enhancing technology, manufacturing, and living standards.
