Angola privatization of financial assets

Overview

Angola is advancing its Privatization Program (PROPRIV) through the sale of state-linked financial assets.

In late September 2026, Standard Bank Angola (SBA) officially transitioned to a publicly listed company on the Angola Debt and Securities Exchange (BODIVA). This listing followed a public offering that raised 208 billion kwanzas through the sale of 34% of the bank’s social capital. The offering saw participation from 39 non-resident foreign investors.

Following this, the State Asset and Participation Management Institute (IGAPE) announced an auction for a 1.44% stake in Banco Comercial Angolano (BCA). These shares were recovered by the state during asset recovery processes involving former Minister of Transport, Augusto Tomás. The auction, scheduled for late October 2026, is intended to reduce direct state involvement in the business sector and encourage private investment.
