Animal cruelty incident in Rome's Appia Antica Park

Overview

In the Appia Antica Regional Park in Rome, a group of youths attempted to hang a fox cub using a rope. A passing jogger intervened, causing the group to flee and allowing the runner to transport the animal to a wildlife recovery center.

While the fox was initially taken to the LIPU wildlife recovery center for veterinary care, subsequent reports indicate the animal remains in critical condition and is “fighting for its life.” Park authorities have described the incident as a “barbaric and senseless tragedy” and are working with local officials to identify those responsible.
