Ankara train station bombing anniversary commemorations

Overview

On the 11th anniversary of the October 10, 2015, Ankara train station bombing, commemorative events were held across various Turkish cities, including Ankara, Istanbul, Malatya, Van, Edirne, İzmir, and Adıyaman. The original attack, carried out by ISIS/DAESH suicide bombers during a Labor, Peace, and Democracy Rally, resulted in the deaths of approximately 101 to 104 people and left over 500 injured.

Labor unions, professional organizations, and victims' families used the commemorations to demand justice. Participants, including representatives from KESK, DİSK, TMMOB, and the Turkish Medical Association, called for full investigations to uncover the entire chain of responsibility. Activists and the 10 October Peace Association argued that while some perpetrators have been prosecuted, the primary responsibilities of political authorities and security bureaucracies regarding potential negligence or intelligence failures remain unaddressed.
