APA Group Sybella Creek renewable energy project

Overview

APA Group has committed to developing the Sybella Creek Solar Farm and a 104MWh battery energy storage system in Mount Isa, Queensland. The AU$259 million project is intended to provide a lower-emissions energy solution for Ernest Henry Mining, a subsidiary of Evolution Mining, under an agreement lasting until mid-2046.

Following the investment decision, UGL has been awarded the contract to deliver the project. The development will consist of a 72MW solar farm and a 52MW/104MWh battery storage facility located on Kalkadoon Traditional Owner freehold land. Construction is slated to begin in late 2026, with an expected completion date in mid-2028.
