Archaeological discoveries in Choromoro, Argentina
Overview
In the Bordo de Aragón area of Choromoro, rainfall-induced soil erosion along Provincial Route 312 exposed pre-Hispanic archaeological remains. Specialists from the Institute of Archaeology and Museum of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, alongside provincial heritage personnel, conducted controlled excavations at the site.
Researchers recovered various ceramic vessels, clay fragments, and bone remains that preliminary assessments suggest may be human. Experts indicate the site likely served domestic or ritual purposes and may be linked to the Chuschagasta culture. The recovered artifacts are being transferred to the National University of Tucumán for scientific analysis to establish their age, function, and cultural context.
