Archbishop Lorefice book presentation in Palermo

Overview

Archbishop Corrado Lorefice presented his new book, ‘Il Vangelo per le strade. Discorsi alla città di Palermo’ (The Gospel for the Streets. Discourses to the City of Palermo), at the Palermo Cathedral. The presentation occurred during a ceremony marking the 33rd anniversary of the death of Father Pino Puglisi.

The book compiles speeches and homilies delivered by Lorefice since his installation in Palermo. It utilizes the city as a metaphor for the complexities of the global South, addressing social injustices, imbalances, and the presence of organized crime. Lorefice presents the Gospel as a mechanism for social redemption and a means to resist resignation in challenging urban settings.
