Argentina and Uruguay academic cooperation

Academic institutions in Argentina and Uruguay have engaged in various initiatives to strengthen regional cooperation and institutional management.

In October 2026, the Association of Universities Group Montevideo (AUGM) launched its 5th Summer-Winter School at the University of the Republic (Udelar) in Uruguay. The program focused on strategic planning, institutional evaluation, and university management, involving over 150 participants. During this period, anthropologist Rita Segato also visited Uruguay to participate in the 9th Congress of University Extension, delivering lectures on human rights and engaging in dialogues regarding university autonomy.

By November 2026, cooperation efforts expanded to include territorial work and field initiatives. A delegation from the Universidad Nacional de Formosa (UNaF) visited Paraguay to propose collaborative research and student internships with the Itaipú Binational Entity and the Pomera forestry company. Simultaneously, the Universidad Nacional de Entre Ríos (UNER) and Udelar implemented the “A Dos Bandas” Internationalized Integral Practices Program in Fray Bentos, Uruguay. This program focused on community work in the Las Canteras neighborhood, integrating academic knowledge with local health and environmental needs through collaboration with social organizations.
