Argentina infrastructure and energy developments

Argentina is experiencing various developments in infrastructure and energy sectors across multiple provinces.

In the mining and public works sector, San Juan has entered a $250 million agreement with the company Vicuña to fund infrastructure, including work on National Route 40 North. This has led to energy disputes with La Rioja following the approval of a 500 kV high-voltage line for the Josemaría copper project. Other regional projects include housing initiatives in Neuquén and Santa Cruz, as well as bus terminal construction in Catamarca.

Regarding renewable energy, Buenos Aires has become the leader in wind capacity, surpassing the Patagonia region with 1,999 MW installed. This shift is driven by wind quality, land availability, and proximity to the AMBA consumption center. The Port of Bahía Blanca further supports this by facilitating the logistics of importing large wind components, reducing costs compared to remote regions. In Tandil, Genneia has inaugurated the La Elbita Wind Farm, a USD 240 million investment utilizing 36 Vestas turbines to provide 162 MW of power.

Solar energy projects are also advancing. In Entre Ríos, Enersa and the provincial government are moving forward with a 120 kW photovoltaic plant in the Nogoyá Industrial Park. Additionally, the Bella Vista photovoltaic plant in Corrientes has reached approximately 90% completion and is expected to be operational by October 16, providing around 10 MW to stabilize the local electrical system.
