In late July 2026, officials in Gualeguaychú, Argentina, confirmed details for the annual ‘Gualeguaychú Corre’ race scheduled for 5 September, expecting more than 800 participants across four distances: 10 km, 5 km, a 2.5 km Mini Marathon, and a Family Run. Secretary of Human Development Juan Ignacio Olano noted the event aims to promote healthy habits and strengthen ties between citizens and the state.

A week later, the city of Quilmes announced its own municipal running event, the ‘Carrera Quilmes 2026,’ to mark the city’s 360th anniversary on 16 August. The race offered a 10 km competitive course, a 3 km recreational ‘correcaminata,’ and a 1 km children’s race.

By mid-August, the trend of community running expanded in the Buenos Aires province. The ‘Carrera Quilmes’ successfully drew over 6,000 participants to the local waterfront, attended by officials including Provincial Deputy Mayra Mendoza and interim Mayor Eva Mieri. Additionally, the 5th edition of the ‘Corremos por Nuestros Colores’ rural race in La Matanza was rescheduled to 30 August due to severe weather. This event, featuring 8 km, 3 km, and 1 km categories, is held at the Club de Campo La Escapada.
