Argentina science and technology leadership change

Argentina underwent a leadership change in its science and technology administration following a cabinet reorganization. On July 29, 2026, Darío Genua resigned as Secretary of Innovation, Science, and Technology after being moved out of the post by Chief of Staff Diego Santilli. The reorganization involved transferring the National Communications Agency (ENACOM) and the Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP) directly to the Cabinet.

On August 13, 2026, Adriana Baravalle was officially appointed as the new Secretary of Innovation, Science, and Technology to replace Genua. Her appointment was formalized via Decree 730/2026, signed by President Javier Milei and Chief of Cabinet Diego Santilli.

Baravalle, an expert in artificial intelligence, data science, and cybersecurity, holds a doctorate in AI from American Andragogy University and directs the Laboratory of Exponential Technologies at Universidad Austral. Her mandate focuses on deepening state technological transformation, promoting the adoption of new technologies, and strengthening ties between the public sector, private industry, and the scientific community. Under her leadership, the secretariat will oversee organizations including CONICET, the National Commission for Space Activities (CONAE), and the National Genetic Data Bank.
