Argentine civil registry service expansion

Argentina continues to expand the accessibility of civil registry services through decentralization and mobile operations to facilitate the issuance of national identity documents (DNI) and passports.

In Córdoba, the decentralization of the Civil Registry into local health institutions remains a primary method for newborn registration. Data from the first seven months of the year shows that 56% of the 8,602 birth certificates issued in the city were processed within three specific medical facilities: Maternidad Provincial Brigadier Juan Bautista Bustos, Hospital Neonatal Dr. Ramón Carrillo, and Clínica Reina Fabiola.

Mobile operations and digitalization efforts are expanding across several provinces. In Chaco, the ‘Operativo DNI’ continues to visit locations such as La Tigra and El Sauzalito. In Salta, services are being provided in Cachi, Rivadavia Banda Sur, and various capital neighborhoods, while the municipality is also decentralizing driver's license renewals through local centers.

New developments in administrative modernization include the electronic Civil Registry office in La Quiaca, Jujuy, which has implemented electronic registration to speed up documentation processes for the Puna region. Digitalization is also progressing in Río Negro through digitized tourism authorizations, and in Paraná, where the ‘Intelligent Digital Processing’ system aims to transition all municipal procedures to a digital-only format by September.

Mobile service campaigns remain active, such as the ‘El Estado con vos’ program in La Pampa, which completed 62 free DNI transactions in General Pico and is scheduled to continue in Santa Rosa. Additionally, mobile units in Almirante Brown offer free identity services, and Buenos Aires is deploying units to various neighborhoods to provide vaccinations, DNI, and passport services.
