Argentine football match security operations

Argentine authorities have implemented various security and operational protocols for upcoming football matches across different provinces.

In Córdoba and La Plata, security ministries and agencies like Aprevide have coordinated large-scale deployments involving hundreds of police officers, firefighters, and private security personnel. These measures include strict fan guidelines, such as prohibiting pyrotechnics, masks, and clothing that identifies opposing teams, alongside designated access routes to manage stadium entry.

In Tucumán, security plans for the match between Atlético Tucumán and River Plate at the José Fierro Stadium involve a multi-layered approach. For the ninth round of the Torneo Clausura, authorities have organized four distinct rings of protection: one at provincial borders to monitor approximately 400 traveling River Plate supporters, and three surrounding stadium access points. Specific deployments include 420 officers stationed within the stadium. Furthermore, a specialized security capsule—comprising patrol cars, the Motorized Operations Directorate (DOM), CERO Special Forces, and Infantry—will escort the River Plate squad from their arrival in the province to their hotel. To ensure the event proceeds normally, officials have maintained a ban on alcohol sales and pre-match gatherings.

In Mar del Plata, the Agency for the Prevention of Violence in Sport (APreViDe) has organized security for the Peñarol vs. Quilmes derby at the Islas Malvinas Multipurpose Stadium. This operation involves approximately 90 provincial police officers, private security, and medical staff. Similar to other regions, authorities have prohibited pyrotechnics, masks, and clothing representing other sports entities, and fans must present physical identification.
