Argentine mountain tourism recognition

Overview

Argentina has received international recognition for its mountain tourism destinations. Initially, five sites—Aconcagua, Champaquí, Mercedario, Copahue volcano, and Nevado de Famatina—were selected for the 2026 ‘World Famous Mountains’ competition organized by the International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA).

Following this, the province of Jujuy was named the Best Mountain Destination in South America for 2026 by the travel platform Tripscout. This specific award was determined by the ‘Social IQ’ data analysis engine, which measured digital engagement and social media interaction across more than 1,100 global destinations.
