Armed crime and police pursuits in Queensland

Overview

Law enforcement in Queensland has arrested individuals following separate incidents of armed crime and theft.

In late August, two men were apprehended after a multi-day spree that began with the theft of approximately a dozen firearms from a residence in Childers. The suspects allegedly stole multiple vehicles, including a Mitsubishi Triton and a Nissan Maxima, and engaged in a high-speed pursuit on the Bruce Highway where a police vehicle was rammed. During the incident in the Noosa Heads area, a suspect reportedly fired a long-arm firearm at a police helicopter and a police vehicle before holding a woman at gunpoint to steal her car.

In early September, a 28-year-old man was charged following a series of armed robberies in Caboolture. The suspect allegedly used a firearm to threaten a pedestrian and two business staff members to steal personal items and cash. He also reportedly used a firearm to force a woman to drive him to a specific location before being apprehended by police.
