Armed robbery of Turkish businessman in Pattaya
Overview
In early October 2026, three armed men raided a luxury villa in the Nongprue area near Pattaya, Thailand. The perpetrators targeted a Turkish businessman of Chinese origin, assaulting him and a housekeeper during the early morning raid. The assailants used weapons and handcuffs to coerce the victim into transferring approximately $820,000 worth of Tether (USDT) cryptocurrency to their own wallet.
In addition to the digital assets, the robbers stole 210,000 baht in cash, five Rolex watches, and several mobile phones, totaling assets valued at over 37 million baht.
Thai police have since identified five suspects—Dong Ping, Lixinle, Wang Hongbo, Mu Hongda, and Zhiyu Wang—using GPS data, rental records, and immigration logs. While investigators recovered a vehicle and various pieces of evidence, including masks and clothing, reports indicate the suspects fled Thailand roughly six hours after the robbery. The Pattaya Provincial Court has issued arrest warrants, and authorities are initiating the process for Interpol Red Notices.
