Arrest of Beltrán Leyva Cartel operator in Jalisco

Overview

Mexican federal authorities, including the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General's Office (FGR), and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), conducted a coordinated operation in Zapopan, Jalisco, to arrest Ángel Guerrero Carrillo, also known as ‘Canguro’.

Based on intelligence shared between Mexican and United States agencies, the suspect is identified as a logistics operator for the Chapo Isidro faction of the Beltrán Leyva Cartel. He was allegedly responsible for coordinating the transport, distribution, and sale of synthetic drugs, such as methamphetamine and fentanyl, in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington.

During the arrest, officials seized a firearm, ammunition, various doses of narcotics, and cash. The suspect has been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for legal proceedings.
