Arrest of child rape fugitive in Aceh Besar

Overview

The Aceh High Prosecutor's Office Fugitive Capture Team arrested MY, a 22-year-old convicted child rapist, in Aceh Besar. The suspect had been on a wanted list since November 2022 after escaping from the Class II Banda Aceh Special Child Development Institution in June 2022.

During the arrest in Gampong Tungkop, the suspect resisted and attempted to flee through a window, resulting in a one-kilometer chase where authorities fired warning shots. The arrest was completed without casualties. MY had previously been sentenced to 80 months in prison by the Jantho Sharia Court.
