Arrest of Florida TikToker for alleged cybercrime

Overview

Mark Asea, a 36-year-old Florida resident who describes himself as a “demonologist,” “Grey Hat Hacker,” and “cybersecurity engineer,” was arrested in Port St. Lucie on felony charges of offense against computer users.

The arrest follows the reopening of a criminal case that had been dismissed in May. Prosecutors allege that Asea gained unauthorized access to the electronic devices of two women to expose their private information through TikTok videos.

One victim reported that Asea used remote access, ostensibly to provide technical assistance, to install a virus on her computer, allowing him to view her information and share a private photograph from her Telegram messages. A second victim alleged that Asea uploaded more than 100 TikTok videos containing her sensitive data, including passwords, banking information, license plate numbers, and her current location. Investigators also noted allegations that Asea used mobile phone GPS data to track a victim’s location.

Asea was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail with a bond set at $35,000 and is scheduled for arraignment on November 19.
