Artificial intelligence applications in Brazil

Overview

Artificial intelligence is being deployed across various sectors in Brazil to enhance monitoring and investigative capabilities.

In environmental conservation, AI and computer vision technology are accelerating biodiversity monitoring. Researchers are using automated tools to process vast amounts of satellite imagery, bioacoustics, and camera trap data to identify endangered species and combat deforestation. While these tools provide immense speed, experts emphasize that human validation remains necessary to ensure accuracy.

Simultaneously, law enforcement agencies are integrating AI and automated license plate recognition to combat crime. Police in states such as Mato Grosso, Paraná, and Bahia have successfully used these systems to recover stolen vehicles and identify fraudulent identification. On a larger scale, investigative platforms have reportedly assisted in clarifying thousands of cases and recovering numerous vehicles across several Brazilian states.
