Ascea municipal administration dispute

Overview

In Ascea, Mayor Stefano Sansone initiated a municipal reshuffle by dissolving the previous reserve and revoking the position of vice-mayor Pietro D’Angiolillo. The new executive team included Filippo Dragone as deputy mayor and engineer Egidio Criscuolo, who assumed responsibilities for Public Works, Technological Innovation, and Urban Planning.

The political dispute subsequently escalated to the judicial system. Former deputy mayor Pietro D’Angiolillo filed an appeal with the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) against his removal. D’Angiolillo argued that the revocation lacked adequate motivation and failed to meet criteria of reasonableness and common interest. While D’Angiolillo stated his legal action aims to demonstrate that the administrative process was incorrect rather than to regain his office, Mayor Sansone has expressed confidence in the legitimacy of the decision and intends to defend the municipality in court.
