ASEAN fuel price trends and variations
Overview
In September 2026, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ministry of Finance announced increases in domestic fuel prices for gasoline, diesel, and fuel oil. These adjustments, which utilized the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund, were attributed to global market volatility stemming from conflicts in the Middle East and the Russia-Ukraine war.
By October 2026, regional data indicated significant variation in RON 95 gasoline prices across ASEAN. While Singapore recorded the highest prices in the region at approximately US$ 2.47 per liter, Indonesia and Vietnam remained the most affordable, with prices near US$ 1.07 per liter. These disparities are attributed to differing national energy policies, taxes, and subsidy mechanisms. In Indonesia, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga maintained stable pricing for subsidized fuels to protect consumer purchasing power through the end of the year.
