ASELSAN air defense system developments

Overview

ASELSAN has conducted successful field operations and live-fire demonstrations for its air defense technologies. In early September 2026, the company commenced operations for the GÜRZ air defense system, which utilizes a multi-layered approach by integrating 35mm KORKUT guns with SUNGUR and GÖKSUR missiles on a single vehicle. Testing validated the effectiveness of its AESA radar and electro-optical sensors.

Later in the month, ASELSAN demonstrated the KORKUT 35 mm system to military delegations from 12 countries. This demonstration highlighted the system’s ability to engage unmanned aircraft and moving ground targets while the vehicle is in motion. The KORKUT system utilizes programmable ATOM ammunition designed to neutralize small drones via tungsten fragments. To support mobile forces, ASELSAN has expanded the system to include wheeled platforms and established a partnership with the Czech-based CSG group for global production.

On September 28, 2026, ASELSAN held further field demonstrations at the Gölbek Shooting and Test Center, focusing on countering mini/micro UAVs and next-generation FPV drones. These tests showcased the KANGAL FPV 100, designed for the detection, diagnosis, and jamming of wireless and FPV drones, alongside the EJDERHA AD 210. The EJDERHA is a high-power electromagnetic (HPEM) countermeasure system that uses radar and electro-optical sensors to neutralize threats by disrupting electronic circuits. The KORKUT 35 mm system was also re-demonstrated to international delegations, emphasizing its effectiveness against cruise missiles, helicopters, and small drones.
