Asian Games boxing preparation in India

Athletes from various nations are conducting intensive training camps in India to prepare for the upcoming Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, which is scheduled to begin on September 19.

In Patiala, Indian boxers are participating in a multinational training camp at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports alongside athletes from Iran and the Dominican Republic. Following this session, the squad is slated to travel to Nagoya for a final preparatory stint. Officials noted that the Asian Games will offer a “significantly higher level of competition” compared to recent successes at the Commonwealth Games, particularly against regional powers like Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Simultaneously, the Nepal boxing team has been utilizing the Sports Authority of India (SAI) National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati for high-performance training. This no-cost arrangement for the SAI is funded by the Nepal Boxing Federation. Coaches from the SAI are assisting the Nepalese delegation, with officials stating that such exchanges serve to “strengthen bonds and promote cooperation between India and Nepal.”
