Asosejud corruption investigation in Costa Rica

Overview

A criminal court in San José, Costa Rica, has ordered the one-year suspension of ten members of the board of directors, supervisory body, and general management of the Asociación Solidarista de Servidores Judiciales (Asosejud). The measure follows an investigation into alleged fraudulent administration.

Initial reports focused on the disbursement of ¢2.3 million to finance a failed Snoop Dogg concert scheduled for December 3. The investigation also seeks to clarify irregularities regarding building construction, preferential credits, and the acquisition of goods and services.

Subsequent findings by the Judicial Investigation Department (OIJ) revealed that between 2020 and 2026, Asosejud made payments totaling ₡3,776,621,112 to four providers. The court identified a high concentration of disbursements to entities that share legal representatives. The largest single payment, ₡2,221,078,143, was made to Productora de Eventos Especiales Solano y Compañía S.A. for event organization, catering, and rentals. While the court noted these payments do not alone prove irregularities, their volume serves as evidence in the ongoing criminal case.
