Assassination of Venezuelan couple in Colombia

Overview

A Venezuelan couple, Eliecer José Flores Flores and Zaida Elena López Leal, were killed by gunmen in the rural El Zulia area of Norte de Santander, Colombia. The victims were traveling by motorcycle in the Camilandia area when they were intercepted and shot multiple times.

Preliminary investigations indicate the victims may have been followed by the assailants, who were also on a motorcycle. Reports indicate that Flores Flores was a fugitive from justice in Venezuela, having escaped from a police facility in Falcón state in December 2025 while in custody for alleged drug-related activities.
