Assault incidents involving foreigners in Pattaya

Overview

In early September, a 70-year-old British tourist was hospitalized after being assaulted at Jomtien Beach in Pattaya. CCTV footage reportedly showed a Thai man, who appeared intoxicated, kicking the victim in the face. The suspect claimed the confrontation was due to a belief that the tourist was connected to a missing motorcycle.

On September 16, a separate incident occurred in South Pattaya involving a foreign man who allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old Thai teenager. The victim reported that he was attacked after attempting to assist the man and a woman who were searching for a lost motorcycle key. Witnesses described the suspect as a Caucasian male in an agitated state who refused to identify himself. Police took the individual into custody for questioning.
