In early August 2026, Tenerife prepared to host the ‘Cielos Tenerife Nordeste 2026’ astronomy meeting at El Montillo Natural Park. The event, organized by several local tourism and scientific entities, was designed to coincide with a partial solar eclipse and promote astrotourism on the island.

During this same period, the Perseid meteor shower also reached its peak, with observers in regions such as Mexico able to see up to 150 meteors per hour.
