Athens murder conviction of Polish professor

Overview

An Athens court has sentenced a 35-year-old man to life imprisonment for the July 2025 murder of Przemysław Jeziorski, a Polish marketing lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley. The killing took place in Agia Paraskevi, Greece, while Jeziorski was visiting his children.

Investigations indicated the crime was driven by a volatile divorce involving disputes over child custody and financial matters related to business interests in the United States. The perpetrator used a Tokarev-type weapon and was assisted by three accomplices, who were also found guilty of involvement in the attack.

The victim’s 43-year-old former wife, who was accused of being the mastermind behind the assassination, died by suicide in her prison cell in June 2026, shortly after judicial authorities moved to send her to trial.
