Atizapán de Zaragoza family massacre investigation

Authorities in the State of Mexico are investigating a massacre in Atizapán de Zaragoza that resulted in the deaths of four people and a dog. The victims included Jonathan Meléndez, a member of the musical group Camilo Séptimo, his pregnant wife, their three-year-old daughter, and a domestic worker.

Investigators detained Argentine national Diego Sebastián Rosen Ferlini and his driver, Gerardo Cisneros Bejarano. The motive is believed to be the theft of cryptocurrency, with suspects allegedly seeking “a cold box with millions of dollars in bitcoins.” Rosen Ferlini was reportedly already under investigation for fraud prior to the killings.

As legal proceedings advance, a judge has formally linked Rosen and Gerardo N to the case, ordering pretrial detention. Rosen’s defense attorney has alleged that his client has been subjected to “physical aggression and torture while in custody” and is experiencing hallucinations. However, the attorney representing the Meléndez family has disputed these claims. Authorities suggest the crime was motivated by the desire to access cryptocurrency keys valued at approximately 30 million pesos.
