Atlanta community and cultural events
Overview
Atlanta hosted a variety of community and cultural events in late September and early October 2026.
Initial festivities included the Sweet Auburn Music Festival, the East Atlanta Strut, and the Blue Stone Arts & Music Festival. Other local activities featured the Atlanta Greek Festival, special museum admissions, and performances by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Little Big Town.
As the period transitioned into early October, the focus shifted toward major creative industries. Atlanta Fashion Week, running from October 1–4, highlighted independent designers through initiatives like the ‘Next Wave’ program and a retail incubator to assist emerging brands. Simultaneously, the Atlanta Art Fair at Pullman Yards featured over 60 international galleries, while The Other Art Fair by Saatchi Art debuted in Grant Park to showcase over 110 independent artists.
The 39th Annual Out On Film LGBTQ+ Film Festival also took place through October 4. As one of only six LGBTQ film festivals globally that are Oscar-qualifying, it offered screenings, workshops, and panels, with its Jury Award for Best Drama Short providing eligibility for Academy Award consideration.
In mid-October, the cultural programming expanded with the second annual Atlanime Fest, held from October 15–18. The four-day celebration, which grew from the ‘Trap Sushi’ event founded in 2020, highlights the intersection of Black culture and anime through hip-hop, gaming, and animation. The festival featured a musical lineup including Slim Jxmmi, Duke Deuce, and DRAM across multiple venues such as Underground Atlanta.
