The Atlixcayotontli festival in Puebla, Mexico, continues to serve as a platform for preserving ancestral knowledge, music, and dance. Early preparations for the 22nd edition highlighted the participation of over 700 dancers representing four ethnographic regions, including Los Volcanes and La Tierra Caliente. As the tradition progresses into its 61st edition, the Huey Atlixcáyotl Festival has expanded its scope to include representatives from 13 ethnogeographic regions. Recent cultural gatherings at Casa Aguayo featured wind band music, the ‘Danza de Chinas y Charros’, and traditional calls in the Nahuatl language. Local officials, including Mayor Ariadna Ayala Camarillo and Secretary of Art and Culture Fritz Glockner, emphasized the festival’s role in showcasing Mexico’s cultural strength and fostering community joy through millenary traditions.
