Attica Region infrastructure and social welfare projects
Overview
The Attica Region is implementing various infrastructure and social welfare projects funded through the Attica Regional Program 2021–2027.
In August 2026, the region launched a program to construct three Supported Living Homes for people with disabilities, starting with a facility in Ilioupoli. This project, managed by the ‘Hermes’ Association, aims to provide beneficiaries with autonomy and dignity.
Concurrently, the region has expanded its environmental and energy efficiency initiatives. Through the ‘ENERGΩ for the Municipality’ action plan, approximately 6.56 million euros has been allocated to fund energy upgrades for schools and municipal buildings across six municipalities: Vyronas, Elefsina, Moschato-Taavros, Megara, Nea Filadelfeia-Nea Chalkidona, and Kaisariani. Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, these works target over 31,000 square meters of space and include thermal insulation, window replacements, and the installation of high-efficiency heating, cooling, and smart energy management systems to support the transition toward climate neutrality.
Additionally, the region, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Green Fund, launched the ‘Green Breaths for Attica’ program. Valued at 60.4 million euros, this initiative involves 13 interventions to improve urban greenery and public infrastructure. Specific projects include the bioclimatic upgrade of the Theatro Vrachon, the expansion of bicycle paths in Vrilissia, and the renovation of public squares and parks in municipalities such as Paiania, Elefsina, and Rafina-Piceri.
