Overview
Law enforcement in Australia has conducted several investigations and operations targeting drug trafficking and the supply of illicit substances.
In late August, a 47-year-old man was charged following an investigation into a drone discovered at the Townsville Correctional Centre in Queensland. The drone allegedly carried a package containing methylamphetamine, GBL, prescription drugs, and various utensils with an estimated street value of $1 million. The charges include supplying dangerous drugs into a correctional facility and drone-related offences.
In early September, police operations in Queensland and the Riverina region led to further arrests. In South Brisbane, three individuals faced numerous charges, including trafficking and possessing heroin, methylamphetamine, and GHB. Additionally, a 27-year-old man was arrested on the Hume Highway after officers discovered more than 500 grams of MDMA in his vehicle.
