Australian horse racing feature successes

Overview

Recent Australian horse racing has seen significant success for both colts and fillies. Warwoven, a three-year-old colt trained by Bjorn Baker, secured a major victory in the $3 million Group 1 Caulfield Guineas in Melbourne. Ridden by jockey Rachel King, the horse won by 1 3/4 lengths, defeating Blind Raise and Call Me Coach. This victory completes a rare double, as Warwoven becomes only the third colt to win both the Golden Rose and the Caulfield Guineas since the former attained Group 1 status in 2009. Following the win, Baker is considering the Cox Plate at Flemington, depending on the horse’s recovery.

Fillies have also achieved notable results in three-year-old features. Satono Glow won the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes at Rosehill, the first filly to do so since 2012. Additionally, the undefeated filly Proxima Dea secured her fourth consecutive victory with a win in the Group 3 $500,000 Gloaming Stakes at Rosehill. Ridden by Zac Lloyd and trained by David Payne, the $4 favourite won by a short neck over Wonka. Payne praised the filly’s determination in a difficult, slowly run race and announced plans to target the Group 1 $2 million Spring Champion Stakes at Royal Randwick on October 24, believing the increased distance will suit her capabilities.
