Austria-Africa economic cooperation and Africa Day

Overview

The ninth Africa Day, organized by the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKÖ) in Vienna, serves as a platform to strengthen economic partnerships between Austria and African nations. The event, themed ‘Africa Means Business’, aims to transition from traditional donor-recipient models toward mutually beneficial investments and industrial cooperation.

Discussions have highlighted opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises in sectors such as healthcare, agricultural technology, and environmental technology. Recent data indicates Austrian goods exports to Africa reached 2.32 billion euros in 2025, representing a 7.4 percent increase.

In this edition, Morocco is the featured nation. Participants, including representatives from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the Moroccan government, have emphasized the importance of industrial sovereignty, technology transfers, and co-investment to support Africa’s economic integration.
