Austria electric vehicle infrastructure expansion
Overview
Electric vehicle charging infrastructure is expanding in Austria through diverse strategic initiatives.
Energie AG has launched a pilot project in the Bad Ischl region by partnering with the hospitality sector. At the Grand Hotel Elisabeth, the company installed 20 AC charging points and high-power DC fast-charging stations. Sonja Kaiser, head of the E-Mobility department at Energie AG, noted that the company aims to make electric mobility accessible across tourism areas, residential buildings, and major transport routes.
In Carinthia, Kelag has opened a large-scale public charging hub in Hermagor following a 1.4 million euro investment. Located on the Gailtal Bundesstraße, the facility features twelve covered fast-charging points providing up to 300 kW, supported by an integrated photovoltaic system. Alexander Jordan, Kelag’s head of sales and e-mobility, emphasized that expanding the public fast-charging network is essential for regional practical use.
