Aviation connectivity expansion in La Paz
Overview
A series of aviation expansions has been initiated to improve connectivity and tourism in La Paz, Baja California Sur. In early August, a new direct flight route was launched connecting La Paz with Monterrey through a partnership between the state Secretariat of Tourism and Economy, Viva Aerobus, and Mexicana de Aviación. This initiative aims to decentralize traffic from the Los Cabos corridor and reduce travel times by avoiding layovers in Mexico City.
Following an 11 percent increase in passenger movement at La Paz International Airport in July, Aeroméxico announced plans to increase flight frequencies between Mexico City and La Paz starting October 25. The airline will provide multiple daily schedules, with all flights operating daily during the high season from December 2026 through early January 2027. These expansions are part of collaborative efforts involving state authorities and airport groups to strengthen regional tourism and economic activity.
